It takes a ton of work to write novels set in the 1800s. Or, I should say that it takes a lot of work to write realistic novels set in the 1800s. As I didn't live in that time period, I have to do a lot of reading and researching to figure out what went on back then, and I thought it would be fun to post the info I gather so that all the other history geeks can learn a bit about it.
Everything I post here is information from museums I've visited and their guidebooks, first-hand accounts from the 1800s, or reliable modern-day non-fiction books... aka I'm not putting things up that are just regurgitated from other websites or blogs. As I've dug more into my own research, I'm finding that there's a lot of myths and misconceptions that are passed around the internet.
I will be updating this from time-to-time and will post notifications to social media and my newsletter, so please follow me on Facebook, Instagram, or Pinterest, and / or sign up for my newsletter to stay in the know.
